This work is a study for the linocut. On the reverse is the pencil study for ‘Dutch Peasant’. Also included in the margins are: a small pencil study for ‘Still Life’ after Gleizes (5 x 4.8 cm) and two designs for posters for Black’s Modern Art Centre, Margaret Street, Sydney.
Modern Art Centre, Margaret St, c.1932. Linocut, 5.3 x 4.9 cm (top of image, turned) Pencil study, 15.6 x 4.7 cm (right of image). This design is a possibly unique linocut impression of a bottle, book and bowl of eggs. The linocut is not in Coppel. The other design is the preliminary pencil study for the linocut.
