The Redfern Gallery are pleased to present 10 New Paintings, an online exhibition by Danny Markey.
"These paintings were all made in the last few years, since my move to rural Somerset. The lovely surroundings were challenging for me as I've always found subject matter in suburban or urban places. Eventually I saw things that I could approach. I am still drawn to scenes that could be found anywhere; places that might be glimpsed on the edge of a town you only pass through once. They are all (to a greater or lesser degree) made on the spot. Despite the ubiquity and anonymity of the places, I require an intimacy with a somewhere."
