Elliott Paul Emsley
In Emsley's work, the impact rather than the identity of the figures is favoured, and working with quick-drying acrylic paint invites the artist to rework and rediscover his subjects and have their significance transformed.
Elliott Paul Emsley explores the liminal in his series of recent paintings. Capturing architecture in its simplified form, without volume or solidity, his artwork speaks of the in-between, the dream-like haze of the new and undiscovered. Many of Emsley's subjects are depicted within glass-fronted structures, inviting the onlooker to consider the protection afforded by what we think we know; inviting you to consider the permeation of the "membrane from outsideness".
