Eileen Agar retrospective in Top Ten shows of 2021

Eileen Agar's retrospective at the Whitechapel Gallery is among the ten best visual arts exhibitions of 2021, according to iNews.

 

In ranking the exhibition at number 8, the paper's art critic Florence Hallett described Agar as "buoyant, joyous and resourceful, she is a refreshing and inspiring figure to rediscover".

 

Prior to its opening, Eileen Agar: Angel of Anarchy had been selected as a 'must-see' show of 2021 by several newspapers, including The Guardian and The Financial Times. It went on to receive much critical acclaim, from Frieze, Evening Standard, The Times and The Daily Telegraph, as well as a 5-star review from The Spectator.
