Eileen Agar included in huge touring exhibition of Surrealist Masterpieces
A painting by Eileen Agar will be shown at Seoul Arts Center, as part of the latest stop for the touring exhibition A Surreal Shock: Masterpieces from Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.
The exhibition has been organised by Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, which is loaning nearly two hundred works from its permanent collection. The Rotterdam museum boasts an impressive collection of Surrealist art, which began in the 1960s with the purchase of paintings by Dali, Max Ernst and Magritte. The museum has recently acquired works by Agar and Leonora Carrington, which are being shown for the first time.
The exhibition opens in South Korea on 27 November, and will continue through to 6 March next year. The exhibition initially toured to the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa earlier this summer, and will finish in Mexico in the spring of 2022.
Agar's painting, Seated Figure, is included on the cover of the exhibition catalogue.
