David Oxtoby part of new show in Madrid

David Oxtoby's painting Mingus Deep Blues is currently on show at the CaixaForum Madrid.

 

This exhibition draws on loans from the British Museum, Tate, and the Prado Museum, among others, to examine how humans have portrayed themselves throughout different eras and cultures. 

 

This is not the first time that Mingus Deep Blues has been shown in Spain; in 2005, it was included in the important survey exhibition of British Pop at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao. The painting was acquired by the Tate in 2018.   

 

The Human Image: Art, Identities and Symbolism runs from 28 April - 9 January 2022, at the CaixaForum Madrid.
